Ingredient Quality and Digestibility
- Opt for formulas containing high-quality, easily digestible protein sources like turkey, salmon, or duck.
- Limited ingredient diets can help identify and reduce food sensitivities or allergies.
Grain and Additive Considerations
- Many sensitive Stih Tzus benefit from grain-free or grain-inclusive options depending on individual tolerance.
- Avoid artificial colors, preservatives, fillers, and common allergens such as wheat, corn, soy, and gluten.
Support for Skin and Coat Health
- Look for the inclusion of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, vitamins A and E, and antioxidants to maintain healthy skin and coat.
- Skin support blends often help reduce itching and irritation associated with food sensitivities.
Probiotics and Prebiotics
- Probiotics and prebiotics enhance gut health by balancing digestive bacteria and supporting nutrient absorption.
- These ingredients are particularly beneficial for dogs with frequent digestive upsets.
Breed-Specific and Size-Appropriate Formulas
- Shih Tzu-specific foods offer kibble shapes and nutrient profiles tailored to their unique jaw structure and metabolism.
- Small breed formulations address the energy requirements and feeding patterns of smaller dogs.
